Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has been awarded the rights to retail CNG to automobiles and pipe gas to households in Rajahmundry and Yanan in Andhra Pradesh and Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh.
The bid was floated by Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) for the retail supply of CNG and pipe gas for the cities. Reliance Group emerged as the favoured bidder by beating joint venture of Adani Energy and IOC.
Also, Reliance can now retail city gas in Yanan in AP and Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh.
However, PNGRB has not issued final licences as a Delhi Court order has restrained it from doing so.
